A look back at HalfStack 2016
HalfStack is a friendly and fun UI-centric JavaScript conference in a pub.
HalfStack started in 2015 and we just concluded our fourth annual London HalfStack conference (see the excellent 2018 HalfStack conference from Christian Heilmann).
For 2019, plans include bringing HalfStack back to London, as well as events in Vienna and New York City for the first time!
This series is a look back at previous HalfStack events.
In 2016, we were still determining what this event should become. We knew we wanted talks that would work well in a pub environment, we enjoyed the JS pub quiz for the afterparty, and we were looking to improve the event from its initial year.
Kitson Kelly provides an excellent 2016 HalfStack recap that I won’t repeat here. The HalfStack sessions were a lot of fun, and for the first time we recorded videos for each session:
- JavaScript is Everywhere, Part 1, Ruth John
- Discussing Prototypes with the Terminator, Christoph Gockel
- Seamless client side JavaScript with webpack, Jack Franklin
- JavaScript is not the enemy, Christian Heilmann
- Babel Plugins: More than just ES2016, Mark Wubben
- Reinventing the Wheel, Dylan Schiemann
- Everybody Lies, Niels Leenheer
- I Pledge My Allegiance, Jonathan Fielding
- Squaring the Sphere, Rob Bateman
- JavaScript is Everywhere, Part 2, Ruth John
HalfStack continues to evolve, though HalfStack 2016 captures the magic we strive for with making each HalfStack event an authentic and enjoyable day for each attendee.
We look forward to seeing you in 2019 at a HalfStack event!
